This Privacy Notice describes how Alzheimer’s Los Angeles (“we”, “us,” “our”) collects, uses and discloses information about individuals who use our website (AlzheimersLA.org), services, newsletters, tools and features, or otherwise interact with us (collectively, the “Services”). For the purposes of this Privacy Notice, “you” and “your” means you as the user of the Services, whether you are a client, donor, volunteer, event participant, website visitor, or another individual whose information we have collected pursuant to this Privacy Notice. Please note that the Services are designed for users in the United States only and are not intended for users located outside the United States.
Please read this Privacy Notice carefully. By using any of the Services, you agree to the collection, use, and disclosure of your information as described in this Privacy Notice. If you do not agree to this Privacy Notice, please do not use or access the Services.

We may modify this Privacy Notice from time to time, in which case we will update the “Last Updated” date at the top of this Privacy Notice. Information You Provide to Us
Some features of the Services may require you to directly provide us with certain information about yourself. You may elect not to provide this information, but doing so may prevent you from using or accessing these features. Information that you directly submit through our Services includes:
- Basic contact details, such as name, address, phone number, and email. We use this information to create and maintain your account and provide the Services, and to communicate with you (including to tell you about products or services that may be of interest to you). When a person makes a memorial/honor donation, we collect the name and address of the person to be notified, if that is requested by the donor making the contribution.
- Demographic information, such as age, date of birth, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, race, preferred language, and military status. We collect this information when you register for certain events, and we use this information to provide the Services.
- Employment information, such as the name of the name of your employer and their contact information and your title. We collect this information if you register for a volunteer opportunity or event and we use this information to provide the Services. This information may also be collected if you select to search for your employer to determine if they match employee giving.
- Financial information, such as credit or debit card number and billing address. We collect this information if you donate to us or register for an event. We use this information to provide the Services to you. We do not retain your financial account information; this information is handled by our third-party service provider.
- Health information, such as medical condition and history. We use this information to provide the Services.
- Health insurance information, such as whether you have Medi-Cal or Medicare and your Medi-Cal/Medicare plan name and identification number. We use this information to provide the Services.
- Any other information you choose to include in communications with us, for example, when sending a message through the Services.
Information We Collect Automatically
We also automatically collect certain information about your interaction with the Services (“Usage Data”). To do this, we may use cookies and pixels (“Tracking Technologies”). Usage Data includes:
- Page views: The number of times you view a page on our website.
- Sessions: The number of user sessions.
- User demographics: Information about you, such as your browser and device type, operating system, and approximate geolocation.
- Time spent on pages: How long you spend on each page of our website.

Information Collected From Other Sources
We may obtain information about you from outside sources, including information that we collect directly from third parties, such as our service providers, and information from third parties that you choose to share with us. Such information includes:
- Analytics data we receive from analytics providers such as Google Analytics.
- ALZ Direct Connect Referral Program, if you participate in this Program, healthcare and aging service providers may provide information about you to us, such as your name, address, phone number, email, date of birth, language preferences, and Medi-Cal and/ Medicare plan name and identification number. They may also inform us of what Services they believe you require.
Any information we receive from outside sources will be treated in accordance with this Privacy Notice. We are not responsible for the accuracy of the information provided to us by third parties and are not responsible for any third party’s policies or practices. In addition to the specific uses described above, we may use any of the above information to provide you with the Services and to maintain our business relationship, including by enhancing the safety and security of our Services (e.g., troubleshooting, data analysis, testing, system maintenance, and reporting), providing customer support, sending service and other non-marketing communications, monitoring and analyzing trends, conducting internal research and development, complying with applicable legal obligations, enforcing any applicable terms of service, and protecting the Services, our rights, and the rights of our employees, users, or other individuals.
Finally, we may de-identify or anonymize your information such that it cannot reasonably be used to infer information about you or otherwise be linked to you (“de-identified information”) (or we may collect information that has already been de-identified/anonymized), and we may use such de-identified information for any purpose. To the extent we possess or process any de-identified information, we will maintain and use such information in de-identified/anonymized form and not attempt to re-identify the information, except solely for the purpose of determining whether our de-identification/anonymization process satisfies legal requirements.

Certain features of the Services allow you to initiate interactions between the Services and third-party services or platforms, such as social networks (“Social Features”). Social Features include features that allow you to access your third-party social media account and “share” our content. Use of Social Features may allow a third party to collect information you post or make accessible and may be publicly displayed by the third-party service. If, at any time, you prefer not to receive further email communications from us (except in connection with information or Services that you specifically request), you may unsubscribe by emailing us your request or by clicking “unsubscribe” at the bottom of our e-newsletter. Please note requests to remove your email address from our lists may take some time to fulfill. If, at any time, you prefer to not receive further SMS communications from us (except in connection with information or Services that you specifically requested), you may reply to any SMS message with the word “STOP” or contact us directly to request removal from our SMS list. Should you opt out of email or SMS communications, and once your request has been fulfilled, we will not send you marketing notifications or correspondence; however, we may still contact you if needed to provide important announcements or notifications regarding the Services for which you have registered, such as a change of venue, a time change, a change in programming, or the like.
Please note that we will not disclose your mobile information with third parties for their marketing or promotional purposes. All the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.
