walk4ALZ®

Walk4AlZ® has been our key community event for many years and we are thankful to our community partners, team captains, and the individuals who have steadfastly supported it. Thank you for your dedication to walk4ALZ which has raised critical funds for programs and services.

Alzheimer’s Los Angeles is excited to announce that this year we will be doing something different for our Fall event and we hope you’ll join us! The event will look different, but we are still counting on our community partners, team captains, and individual fundraisers to rally their communities to raise awareness about Alzheimer’s and other dementias and to fundraise for Alzheimer’s LA. And there will still be a great celebration event.

Alzheimer’s LA is marking our 40th year of serving the community and we are celebrating with a big, new event, the Making Memories Festival: A Celebration of LA Food & Music. We’re inviting our walk4ALZ supporters to join us in our continued commitment to families facing Alzheimer’s or another dementia.

Please save the date for Sunday, November 14 to savor local LA fare and treat your ears to local LA music. This celebration would not be complete without our team captains and individual fundraisers getting the recognition they deserve. Although the festival is a ticketed event, your fundraising efforts through hope4ALZ® will earn your entry. Please see the FAQs below for details.

hope4ALZ is similar to walk4ALZ, where you can create a fundraising page as a team captain, team member, or as an individual. Then, just as you did for walk4ALZ, you can share your fundraising page to your network. Instead of being a walk4ALZ team captain, participant, or supporter, you will be a hope4ALZ hero.

FAQs

Alzheimer’s Los Angeles is excited to announce a new event that is taking the place of walk4ALZ. Because 2021 marks 40 years of serving the community, we are excited to invite everyone to celebrate our 40 years of commitment to families facing Alzheimer’s or another dementia. Please join us on Sunday, November 14th. This celebration would not be complete without our walk4ALZ team captains and walk4ALZ individual fundraisers. We are so thankful to our team captains and the individuals who support our mission by raising critical funds and awareness every year!

To honor and celebrate our 40 years of service to the community, we are hosting the Making Memories Festival: A Celebration of LA Food & Music on Sunday, November 14, 2021. This multicultural festival will feature iconic local food vendors and local bands loved by our community, as well as informational booths focusing on brain health and other healthy lifestyle opportunities.

2021 marks our 40th anniversary of providing innovative programming for people living with Alzheimer’s or another dementia. We have earned the trust of families, of diverse communities, and of the professionals who serve them through our steadfast dedication to improving people’s quality of life.

As we reflect on the past 40 years, we turn our vision to the future and commit to building on our legacy to ensure that anyone in need of help gets it. We will work to educate the richly diverse region of greater Los Angeles about what dementia is and isn’t, and we will continue the fight to eliminate the stigma that perpetuates misunderstanding and creates unnecessary barriers to accessing the support we’re here to provide.

Bring your team and join us for this celebration!

Do the same as you always do! Reach out to them and gather the team together! Invite them to support your hope4ALZ fundraiser and to join you for this wonderful event! They are part of our history, our present, and our future just as much as you are. You and your team can continue to wear your beautiful (or silly or wacky) team t-shirts to this event and let everyone know why you support Alzheimer’s Los Angeles.

Making Memories Festival is a ticketed event. If you would like to continue fundraising for Alzheimer’s Los Angeles, please create a fundraising page through our hope4ALZ program. hope4ALZ is similar to walk4ALZ, where you create a fundraising page as a team captain, team member, or as an individual. Then, you share your fundraising page to your network. We will still provide as much support as you’d like, just as we did for the walk.

It would not be a celebration of our 40 years of service and our community if we don’t include local food vendors that truly represent the diversity of LA culture. Music builds deep and lasting connections in our brains from a very early age, and music can still be seen to emotionally move and connect people even in the latest stages of the disease. Music unlocks a part of the brain that Alzheimer’s makes inaccessible and provides comfort and joy for both the person with the disease and their highly stressed family caregivers. Building an event that celebrates food, music, and our local community was an obvious choice for us.
