Support Group Facilitator Training

Support Group Facilitator Training

“Being a caregiver support group facilitator has been moving. I’m motivated and inspired by the group members’ resilience, comradery, and genuineness. I’m proud to be able to provide a space for them to come together and support each other. I feel like I’m making a difference.”

Support Groups provide an opportunity for family members, friends, caregivers, and others to meet regularly where they can share feelings, thoughts, and experiences. Through sharing in a safe environment with people who are going through similar things, participants learn ways to better cope with and manage the challenges of Alzheimer’s or another dementia. Alzheimer’s Los Angeles Support Group Facilitator Training is for those interested in becoming a facilitator of a dementia-specific support group. You don’t have to be a professional healthcare worker.  Anyone who wants to dedicate themselves to running a regular group and helping others dealing with dementia caregiving are welcome. This training provides a discussion of the purpose and value of support groups, information on starting and maintaining a support group, as well as an understanding of group dynamics and the group process.

The next training will be:
