Training for Healthcare Professionals

Our experienced staff offers programs dedicated to helping healthcare professionals deliver quality care to people with dementia and their families. Training programs are tailored to those working in community-based, residential-care, and healthcare settings, including, but not limited to: providers, nurses, social workers, adult day service providers, activity staff, direct care providers, and administrators.

DEMENTIA CARE SPECIALIST /
CARE NAVIGATOR

TRAINING PROGRAM

The Dementia Care Specialist Training Program, offered by Alzheimer’s Los Angeles, includes four interactive, live Zoom-based trainings followed by four follow-up huddles. The training program is designed to strengthen dementiabspecific care coordination and care management knowledge and skills as outlined by the CA Department of Health Care Services in the CalAIM Dual Eligible Special Needs Plans Policy Guide.

LIVE ZOOM TRAININGS
December 3, 5, 10, & 12 | 9AM–12:30PM

HUDDLE DATES
January 9 & 23, February 6 & 20 | 9–10AM

  • Participants will need reliable internet access and a working camera is highly recommended. Participants will be asked to complete some light reading and practice-based assignments between sessions.

  • Attendees must attend all training sessions to complete the program and to obtain a Dementia Care Specialist certificate of completion.

  • The training and subsequent huddles will meet the 2025 GUIDE requirements.

TRAINING TOPICS
• Timely disease detection

• Use of a telephonic validated cognitive screening tool

• Person and family-centered care practices using a dementia informed lens

• Family caregiver identification, assessment, and support

• Community resources and coordination with community based organizations

Program Fee: $300 per participant
(includes transaction fees)

Class size is limited. Make-up sessions will not be ordered. Registrations are transferable, but non-refundable. We reserve the right to change or cancel this event with a refund to be provided.
