Monrovia designated a Dementia Friendly City

On June 4, 2019, the City of Monrovia proclaimed the month of June 2019 as Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month and recognized the city as a Dementia Friendly City. This action was the result of advocacy by Nathan Kirschenbaum of Senior Helpers, who leads the Dementia Friendly Monrovia Action Team.
Dementia Friendly Monrovia is a collaborative effort that is part of the Dementia Friendly America movement and supported by the Monrovia Provider Group and Alzheimer’s Los Angeles. They are working to engage all parts of the community in building a dementia friendly culture so that people living with dementia and their care partners feel embraced, supported, and encouraged to be active members of the community.
