Latinos and Alzheimer’s Disease
Due to a range of socio-economic issues, Latinos are at least 50% more likely than non-Latino whites to develop Alzheimer’s. Currently, Alzheimer’s is the eighth-leading cause of death among Latinos—a number likely underreported due to stigma, low levels of awareness, and misdiagnosis.
The number of Latinos with Alzheimer’s is expected to increase more than 9-fold from 379,000 in 2012 to 1.1 million by 2030… and to 3.5 million by 2060—a growth of 832%!

The Library of Congress, National Archives and Records Administration, National Endowment for the Humanities, National Gallery of Art, National Park Service, Smithsonian Institution and United States Holocaust Memorial Museum join in paying tribute to the generations of Hispanic Americans who have positively influenced and enriched our nation and society.
